If you like wine and are curious to know the reasons why the wine culture of Pico is so special that even its landscape has been classified as UNESCO Heritage, then come with us on this tour that “is all about wine”.
After picking you up in Madalena, we will start with a walk through the vineyards of Criação Velha. There we can not only witness the special characteristics and beauty of Pico's wine landscape, but also understand the amount of work it took to create it.
The typical winery clusters are also part of the heritage. We will discover one of these places and taste the local wine by the ocean.
Next we will visit the Museu do Vinho and its impressive dragon tree garden.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will head towards São Roque, located on the north coast. Along the way, we stop at the old wine production site of Lajido, discovering other features that can refer to the golden age of wine that lasted more than 200 years, such as small harbors, tidal wells, distilleries and much more.
We will end this tour in the best possible way at a local producer's winery, tasting the famous “licoroso” white wine, a very strong wine, which has already brought great economic success to the island.
