Lagoa do Fogo and Sete Cidades by Van

São Miguel is the largest island in the archipelago, measuring 62.1 km in length and 15.8 km in maximum width. Being one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal, the Green and Blue Lagoons are the ex-libris of our island, which according to legend, were formed from the tears of a shepherd and a princess who shared a forbidden love.

In the center of the island are the fascinating landscapes of Lagoa do Fogo, undoubtedly one of the island's greatest natural attractions. The large blue lagoon of the Seven Cities - about 2 km long and 1 km wide - fills the floor of an extinct crater, whose caldera was formed during an eruption in 1563. This walk takes you to Lagoa do Fogo and the Lagoa das Sete Cidades.
