Today we set off to discover the traditions around the Rio Arade and the Ria de Alvor!

We start by heading to the banks of the Rio Arade. Here we board a comfortable boat. Take the opportunity to relax and enjoy this magnificent trip along the Rio Arade, which was once one of the most important communication routes in this region.

Enjoy the view over Ferragudo, a small fishing village crowned by its small church, discover the Porto de Portimão, one of the main ports of the Algarve, admire the buildings where the numerous fish canning factories once operated, sustaining a large part of the population of this area, and let yourself be amazed by the beauty of the banks of this river, passing by the gruta de Santo António, once a place of pilgrimage for the people who inhabited this region.

The boat trip will have an approximate duration of 1.5 hours.

After the trip on the River, we return to our comfortable minivans, where we set off to discover the most typical neighborhoods of Portimão, where you can still admire the old design of the humble houses, once homes of fishermen and fish canning factory workers.

We then head towards praia da Rocha, where we will make a stop next to the Fortaleza, from where you can marvel at

  • the fantastic view over its sandy beach
  • the mouth of the Rio Arade
  • Ferragudo

Our final visit will be in the village of Alvor. Alvor is still a fishing village, located next to the Ria that adopted its name – Ria de Alvor. Our guide will lead a guided tour through the narrow streets of this picturesque village, where you can appreciate the beautiful, but simple Igreja Manuelina with its masterfully sculpted portal.

We will make a stop in the Ribeirinha de Alvor area, where you can relax in one of the cafes located there and enjoy the wonderful view that stretches out before you before returning to the Hotels.
