In the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, Azores, there is a very special place, the right place. It's called Mosteiros and is hidden in a beautiful fajã on the western tip of the magnificent island of São Miguel. It is here that we will provide you with a memorable experience, where you can observe wild marine animals in their own habitat and their behavior. It should be noted that as the animals are in a natural habitat, the sighting of cetaceans is not guaranteed. We recommend going to the beach or natural pools, they are beautiful!

Highlights

In Mosteiros we are privileged by our position, in the western part of the island we find refuge, relaxation, peace from all the noise and light pollution that occurs in city centers but not just us, all surrounding life finds the peace they are looking for in this place. There are more than 25 species of cetaceans that can be observed here. The whale migratory route is also a good indicator that animals will be seen more reliably, however we have strong reasons to believe that there are cetaceans resident in the area throughout the year.

Program

At our base, you will be loaned a life jacket, a light, waterproof jacket and some information from our guide about what you can expect to see on this trip and about our safety procedures. After that we will go to the port (1 minute walk) and onto the boat, from there we continue our journey to the points indicated by our lookout on land. Each trip lasts around 2/3 hours and back at the base you will be given additional information about the animals seen or any other relevant information. Remember that the animals are at home, sailing the great Atlantic Ocean and therefore cetacean observation is not guaranteed.

Bring water, light food, warm clothes and a camera. We can also share our photos with you!
